2018… What a year. It has taught me a few extremely important lessons, and a few of these were huge mountains to climb over.

I learned how to conquer confrontation in the professional world. Businesses aren’t completely run by robots (thank god). We are humans. We make mistakes. There’s going to be little bumps in the road. A big foundation of business ownership is about not letting the little things (or even a big thing) make you quit.

I discovered my editing style. I thrive off romance, and fairytales. I adore dainty details and pretty things. Light, airy, pinky tones showcase my images in the best way. I felt like my work was never complete before I discovered the way I love to edit my images.

I learned that you should never take your friends and family for granted. I’ve dealt with a lot of loss, and it’s been the most difficult thing to go through. I went from spending time with my entire family and best friend on a daily basis to having them living in a different states and only being able to see them 2-3 times a year. Relationships are such a precious gift. Enjoy the time you are able to have with them, and cherish these moments always.

I discovered that life begins at the end of your comfort zone. I told myself at the beginning of the year that needed to do more things that scare me… And it’s been SO fun! I have continued to create YouTube videos, and the journey has been so fun and so rewarding. It’s always a little intimidating to just put yourself out there on the internet, but I would have never discovered such a passion for it if I had never tried! YouTube sends you monthly analytics and it estimated my channel to hit 2,000 subscribers by mid January. I wanted to hit that goal by the end of the year. Guess what… IT HAPPENED! EEEEE!! I am so thankful and grateful for every subscriber.

One of the most important lessons I learned is that joy is a daily choice, and it is SO important to choose it. We often let our self doubt, and even let hypothetical opinions from others steal our happiness. When our joy is taken from us, any chance of success disappears. I recently listened to a Rachel Hollis podcast about this, and it really hit me in the face. I highly recommend getting hit in the face by Rachel. (How to Get Past Other People’s Opinions)

So, as I sip my champagne, I celebrate abundant growth, independence, and a new confidence that I’ve never had in myself and my business before. Cheers to 2018, and many new achievements to come in the new year.

P.S. I always feel so weird about blogging… I share a piece of my heart and then… Here, look at some pretty photos of people that have nothing to do with what I just wrote about. Other people blend the two so well. Maybe I’ll figure it out this year? LOL! Anyway, here’s some gorgeous New Years Eve portraits of Noah and Kristi in Whitefish. We had so much fun and laughed a lot. Enjoy. <3
